So, I slept home for the first night and waited a bit to come back up to the hospital. It was nice to get a break but I missed chaser. Justin stayed at the hospital and apparently he didn't fit too well on the (barely) twin sized sofa. Precious man.
Chase is waking up more and becoming more and more agitated. When I got back to the hospital, the doc came in and chatted with me about chase's mess. They are going to take him off the meds that make him sleepy. They like the agitation, and they like that it is purposeful - the only problem, I'm the only one that ever knows what he wants / speaks his language. The nurse even said she asked when I would be back.
He had a great night last night (slept through the night in his own) and is a "solid Rancho Four," which means he is progressing nicely through the Rancho Scale. This scale is what staff uses to determine his progress. When he was in a coma, he had another scale - G something (Maggie would know ;-) and now he's moved into this one. There are 10 levels - half way there! Lots of kids come in on 1 or 2, chase came in on a 3 and moved a solid level in a week (some kids take months). It's up to each kid how they progress. Chase is a go-getter for sure!!
Chase is on a new med that will help his muscles remain calm for his agitation. A lot of people use it to calm themselves before a big presentation or get stage fright. Your mind is still sharp, just calms your body. As of yet, he hasn't needed it.
