Update #25

Chase had his therapies starting today. He even stood up (with support) and resisted going back into his wheel chair. He is still trying hard to speak and interact. His eyes move appropriately. I love seeing his beautiful brown eyes. I can feel that he is experiencing much emotion & is trying hard in his brain to sort through what's going on.

I was able to take him for a walk in a wheel chair, which he loved. We looked all around; his eyes never stopped moving. He held up his own head and freaked out when I pushed him up to the window to look at the snow. I love chase so much; he has such a zest for life.

He hates his feeding tube and did better eating today. better than yesterday, and it's that progress that we are after - better & better every day. He ate applesauce & chocolate pudding like a champ. The speech therapist said he opened his mouth all the way, appropriately. It's so sweet, he is so weary of new people. I have to introduce everyone as my friend and then he's cool with them.

He's such a strong amazing boy and I'm so grateful that's I can still snuggle him & kiss him all over. He snores like a champ (that's my chaser) and works hard for all his therapies. He's doing so well & I'm so proud of him.

Thank you to those of you who are bringing us meals. As I am at the hospital 24/7, Justin is working while holding down the fort. It's very nice to have him bring the kids up for a visit then get 3 hungry girls home to a warm meal. Thank you so much again. We are so grateful for all the love & support.

Chase got his second bath today in over a week. We scrubbed him down after his therapies & he just relaxed. Then he came back to his room and had clean sheets & jambes (they have a laundry machine that we can use). He slept like a champ. That's the pattern right now: therapies (work), res, interact, rest. I'm so grateful that I have the support from my sweet husband to be her 24/7 to give chaser a voice & help care for him. The nurses say I "keep them on their toes." you better believe it. The nursing staff here is wonderful and they truly love chase and my whole family, which I appreciate so much.

Overall, another good day.

Slow & steady.

Jen
