Another message from Jen:
Slow, steady progress. He was restful today, which the nurses encouraged. He had some physical and occupational therapy started and all therapists stated that he had great range of movement and was limber (as opposed to stiff). He moved his eyes toward me today when the nurse practioner asked him to. He continues to move and show agitation when poked and prodded (suctioned etc). When the physical therapist came in, he leaned his hand the proper way to give a high five and touch his nose - progress.
Continues to squeeze hands and has had his eyes (though only a slit) open on and off throughout the day. He is taking many breaths on his own and his numbers are great oxygen wise.
He has had a bunch of crud continually come up throughout the day. he has coughed much up (which is fantastic because he is attempting to protect his airways). His x-ray showed slight pneumonia, but we began antibiotics for that yesterday so we were preventative so we were able to get that process started -7 days of antibiotics. We will have the results from the culture tomorrow to ensure that he is on the proper antibiotics, but the team is comfident that they are using the proper antibiotic due to white blood count and what is coming up from his lungs when they suction.
The team has reminded me that rest means healing and that his body knows what he needs right now and is taking care of himself. As his brain re-absorbs the blood, we will see continual progress. We are praying that his brain will create new pathways and he will be whole.
With faith and Christ, all things are possible.
Thank you all for your continual love and prayers. He is amazing and we can feel them. Keep them coming!!! Thank you thank you thank you.
Jen
