Update:
* Neck collar off: they did a special x-ray pushing his head forward and back to ensure that there were no breaks etc and he was cleared so it came off
* Dr said that we won't have to do anything for his jaw, that it will heal on his own
* He lost a tooth (baby tooth) - huge blessing that the nurse saw it because had she not it could have gotten caught in his throat/breathing tube
* CT scan looked same, so that's good; no swelling, ventricles open and looking good
* Opening his eyes spontaneously on his own more
* more movement - pushed up from his back which is new and a positive sign
Chaser is still continuing to rest much of the day as his brain continues to heal. He truly an amazing child and we are so blessed that he is still here with us. We appreciate the prayers, gifts and well wishes. We have amazing amazing friends and family.
Please continue to pray that he wakes up when he is ready.
We are doing a family fast for Chase Sunday - which only means you skip two meals and fast during that time for precious Chase to wake up & for his brain. I have such a testimony of fasting and I am so appreciative to everyone's prayers throughout the world for my precious son. Thank you doesn't seem enough. I am overwhelmed.
Thank you for the birthday wishes; my son gave me a wonderful birthday of slow and steady progress.
Love to all
Jen
So glad he continues to show signs of progress. Glad your birthday could be marked by several small steps forward. Praying his body will absorb the clots, continue to heal his brain, and show more frequent and improved movements...
ReplyDeleteI would like to join the fast for Chase on Sunday. What exactly do you do? Eat one meal that day, or nothing? Drink only water? Or can you drink whatever you want? #neverfastedbefore
ReplyDeleteLove, prayers, and well wishes to you all. Happy Birthday Jen!

Jen, we are so happy to here Chase is making slow and steady progress. We continue to pray for his recovery to health and strength for you and your family. Much love and prayers, love clorinda
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear Chase is making regular positive movements forward. What a wonderful birthday blessing. When Crystal was n the ICU, the doctors basically said that we would give her a few days and then changed it to a week since she was young and healthy. We told them that she was responding to us, but they didn't believe it. We told them that she would wake up and that she would walk and talk again and they still stayed wary of any real progress. She does walk, talk and tells us all of what she wants. The fact that he didn't have a lack of oxygen and that he is doing so well already. I bet he will continue to make wonderful progress. It is still a long road for the brain to heal, but Chase is a fighter and the fact that he can't stand the diaper is a fantastic sign. God continue to bless you guys and we are all here to share our love and support. Keep it up Chase, you have a late birthday party to throw for your Mom.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Jen! So , so glad things are looking up for Chase! I'll be fasting with you on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThought I'd share a quick overview of fasting for those who might like to partcipate:
ReplyDeleteFasting means to go without food and drink for a period of time, usually one day, in order to draw closer in spirit with God. We can fast and pray for others, asking Heavenly Father to bless those, like chase, who are ill or in need of special blessings.
Some basic steps to fasting (you can personalize these; there are no fixed requirements):
1 - Select a purpose or desired blessing (Chase to heal)
2 - Begin your fast with a prayer (Give thanks to God, and ask for the blessings you desire)
3 - Do not eat or drink for two meals (For example, dinner Sat. to dinner Sun; usually 24 hours)
4 - Focus on and pray for your purpose (Use feelings of hunger and thirst to remind you to pray)
5 - Draw closer to God (Fasting is like "spiritual excercise")
6 - Close your fast with another prayer (Ask for blessings and give thanks)
7 - Make an offering (Donate the amount of money you would have spent on food and drink during your fast to help the hungry and poor)
Notes:
Some people with health issues are unable to abstain from food and water for 24 hours. You can still join in the fast by setting aside regular activities or habits to instead try to focus on and pray for Chase during that same time. You can also conclude your personalized fast by helping the poor and needy.
All the best to those who join in the fast for Chase this Sunday! Keep praying for him!
