Update #36

Chase is continuing to progress one day at a time. He is still working on re-learning how to do everything, but he pooped on the potty today which is excellent. He will get his feeding tube out tomorrow so he will be free of wires and tubes. He is starting to look more and more like my chaser. He is a Rancho 4. http://healthpages.org/brain-injury/brain-injury-recovery/ He came into the Rehab floor again at a Rancho 3 and some kids take months, so Chaser is doing amazing. One of my favorite things to do is to snuggle up with him in bed and just listen to him breathe. I can still remember being at his bedside and seeing his chest rise and fall, but it was a machine down his throat doing it. To see him awake and working so hard in his therapies is a miracle. Everyday he improves more and more and he never ceases to amaze me. It's been 2 1/2 weeks and he is continually progressing. He is frustrated that he can't speak, but he continues to work hard at strengthening his trunk and head. He is such, such a hard little worker. Again, the prognosis for his stay at the hospital is best case 4-6 weeks; worst case: 6-8 weeks. I will have my baby home (I pray) by the end of April. He is so amazing. All in all, the fact that he is progressing continually is amazing.  I'm so so grateful. I heard once (from my bestie Emily) that it's important to get specific with the Lord about your desires. So, I'm going to ask if you could please pray (and fast this Sunday again if you choose) for chase to specifically: to continue to re-learn how to walk, talk, control his body & speak; pray that he rapidly progresses through his Rancho stages. These are the large targets we are looking for next. He is doing amazing and working so hard, specific prayers only buoy chase up as he continues his road of recovery. Also, I continue to pray and thank the Lord everyday for giving me a second chance with my precious, amazing, talented and loving son. I can't imagine my life without him. He is so wonderful and fighting so hard to heal and come home. The added support and prayers are so appreciated during this time. I continue to feel carried and blessed by all m earthly angels watching over my precious family. Brooke, Bri and Bai are too persevering and I'm so, so proud of them. They are so strong and as we continue to pray as a family, we thank the Lord for all of the support we have. We are truly blessed beyond words. Thank you doesn't seem enough. At the end of the day, 8 weeks (if it's that) is two tear drops in a bucket of water... It's healing and bonding with my oldest son in a way that I could have never before this. I continue to wrap my arms around him and squeeze him. I can't wait until his feeding tube is out so I can kiss his whole face. Sweet, sweet boy. Slow & steady Jen
