Chase officially got moved to the Rehab Program starting tomorrow. Huge news. He is eating pureed foods every approximately 3 hours. I feed him & I love it!! He eats like a champ & missed his goal of eating by only 4 ounces today. So, he only needed 4 ounces with his feeding tube. We are hoping to have it removed by Friday.
We have a projected timeline and expectation: home within 6-8 weeks (goal they set for insurance companies to ensure enough time us given). Realistic goal: 4-6 weeks... There is an end in sight.
Goals to be met prior to leaving: eating, pottying, walking, communicating through speech, and safe. The team says that he is moving rapidly on his own & as we transition to this next step, it only becomes more intense with bigger results. Perspective: Chase was in a coma 2 weeks ago and we are discussing discharge.
During rehab, Chase will get to go on passes where he checks out and gets to have family time; thrilling.
Please pray that chase continues to become stronger & stronger & improve. Thank you to all those who have signed up for dinners for my family. They are so appreciated. All of the love & support. Chase has so many amazing gifts to come home to. I am so so grateful for chase's progress & the continued support.
Can't wait to have my family all back under one roof. Again, so grateful for the most amazing husband on the planet who not only rose to the occasion - he exceeded all my expectations. He came to the hospital tonight and too me on a hot date to Starbucks across the hospital - over to the University Hospital. His positivity & faith uplifted me. Then to feel rejuvenated and come back to chase's room only to be meeting with the Rehab Coordinator... Blessed!
Also, visiting hours are still 5PM on Monday through Friday, and more flexible on the weekends. Please just text in advance so that his schedule remains as structured as possible with the right balance of work & stimulation. Thank you all for your support in Chase's progress.
Tomorrow is a big day.
Slow & steady,
Jen
